What is ClaudeBot?
ClaudeBot is Anthropic's official web crawler (user-agent "ClaudeBot"), which fetches publicly accessible content used to train and ground Claude — including answers Claude returns when its web tool is enabled. Like GPTBot and PerplexityBot, access is governed by robots.txt. Anthropic also publishes a separate "ClaudeBot-User" agent for on-demand fetches initiated by user prompts. Allowing ClaudeBot keeps a brand in scope for Claude-generated answers, which matters increasingly as Claude is adopted inside enterprise stacks (Claude in Slack, Claude for Work) where buying conversations actually happen. Crackle PR allows ClaudeBot on cracklepr.com and audits every client for ClaudeBot access — Claude is quietly becoming the assistant of record inside enterprise buyer teams, and invisibility inside Claude means invisibility inside the buying conversation.
“Claude is quietly becoming the assistant of record inside the enterprise. If ClaudeBot can't reach you, you're invisible in the room where the deal is being discussed.”
